Discover The Dinosaurs
We took the boys to Discover the Dinosaurs on Friday.  Luke's been interested in them ever since Dad let him watch Jurassic Park.  So since Luke likes them, so does Drew.
Luke liked pushing the buttons making the dinosaurs roar.
"My vewy favorwit dinosauw is the T Wex.  I don't weally like any of the nice ones."

Drew didn't really think this pretend feeding to the dinosaurs was that fun.
And once we saw the T Rex, Luke wasn't interested in any of the others.

Once again, Drew doesn't know why we had to get so close to them.

So then we tried feeding Luke to his vewy favowit dinosauw.

Then my dad thought this was a good idea for a picture even though I'm sure it was against the rules.

What I think is funny is Drew likes the longnecks.   Seems to fit his personality better I think.

He likes the "3 Horn like Sarah" (Land Before Time) too.  Basically Drew likes all of them.  They all make him happy, most things do.
Except when you put him on one that moves... and it's a T Rex!

That flat out scared him to death!
Luke thought it was awesome though, but again, only the T Wex.

This is a great one don't you think?
I think they loved it.  It was something that only lasted the weekend.  We don't have any other dinosaur exhibits around here.  I'm glad we went.

So What's the Circus All About?

The circus came to town.  It comes every year and the free child's tickets go around.  Every year I wonder what it's like and if we should go.  I remember going as a kid on a field trip probably 25 years ago.  I actually don't really remember anything about it, except that it seemed kind of dirty.  But this year when it came around I decided I was going to take the boys.  They probably wouldn't care, they never really care about anything I try to take them to unless it has to do with race cars.
As it turns out, my parents volunteered to take them along with their three cousins.  I'm glad they did, the boys had much more fun suckering their grandpa into things that I wouldn't have done.
For example, I probably wouldn't have paid what  it  cost to ride this elephant in two circles .

But, it's probably something that needs to be done at the circus and now they can tell everyone that they've ridden an elephant.
And, my dad can tell everyone that he's ridden an elephant too.  And that's really all that matters here.
And, I probably wouldn't have bought them as many snacks at $5 each that they had with Grandma and Grandpa.
But again, it made them so happy and you have to have snacks and drinks when it's 85 degrees in there and you have to sit for 30 minutes waiting for anything to happen.

Look how happy Drew is with his snow cone.

And I know for a fact that I wouldn't have bought them these swords.

But how else would they be able to show their appreciation to Grandpa than by shoving  them in his face?

I thought the elephants were impressive.  Especially after having read Water For Elephants recently.  I wondered if they had been beaten or drank whiskey.

Well, so now we've been to the circus and I'm happy about that.  It was good.  There were lots of things that were impressive like the elephants, acrobats, and the boys loved the motorcycles in the cage.  Then there were some things that weren't so impressive but still we enjoyed it and the kids enjoyed being together.  And now we have all been to a circus and when it comes around next year I'll know I don't need to wonder what it's all about.
